Irish Georgian Society Tour, 2012

The Club joined with the Irish Georgian Society once again for another enjoyable tour of Country Houses, some of which are not usually open to the general public. This year ( which is the 34th year in which we have joined forces with the IGS) we visited Northern Ireland. We were promised a plethora of outstanding country houses including Clandeboye, Gosford Castle (a spectacular neo-Norman castle designed by Thomas Hopper for the Earl of Gosford), The Argory, the ‘two faced’ Castle Ward, and Hillsborough Castle, residence of the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, together with various private houses to include Grey Abbey, Castle Dobbs, Ballyscullion, Ardress and Ballwalter Park.
